Waldrum reportedly agrees Super Falcons contract extension
Randy Waldrum, the American coach who guided the Super Falcons to the Round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, has reportedly agreed a contract extension to continue leading the Nigerian women’s national team.
The nine-time Africa champions demonstrated a commendable performance under Waldrum’s guidance during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
While the details of the contract extension were not immediately available, reliable sources indicate that Randy Waldrum has committed to extending his tenure as the Super Falcons coach.
Sports journalist Osasu Obayiuwana revealed on Monday, January 8, 2024 that Waldrum had signed the contract extension offered by the NFF, raising questions about the delay on the federation’s end. Waldrum’s initial contract with the NFF concluded in October of the previous year.
The NFF’s hesitation in finalizing the contractual agreement is puzzling, especially considering the upcoming crucial 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers scheduled for next month.
