Warri Wolves Fined ₦1 Million for Poor Security During Match

Warri Wolves have been fined ₦1 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for not providing proper security during their home match against Enugu Rangers on Sunday.
According to an official NPFL statement released on Tuesday, the club broke the league’s rules because the match was delayed. The delay happened because there was not enough security in place before kickoff.
The NPFL said the club must now create a proper security plan and send it to the league board within seven working days. Warri Wolves also have 48 hours to appeal the fine if they wish.
“Warri Wolves have been fined ₦1 million for failing to provide prompt, adequate and effective security for the Matchday 2 fixture,” the NPFL said.
The 4pm kickoff was delayed because of the security issues, but the match went ahead later in the day.
Despite the fine, Warri Wolves are off to a great start this season. They beat Enugu Rangers 2–0 at their temporary home in Ozoro, after also winning their first match 1–0.
In the game against Rangers, Oham Godwin scored the first goal with a beautiful strike from outside the box in the 48th minute. Prince Ebhohan added a second goal with a header from a corner to seal the win.
With two wins from two games, Warri Wolves are now in second place in the league, level on points with Bayelsa United. Both teams have a 100% record so far. Warri Wolves will face defending champions Remo Stars next, in Abeokuta.
