Warriors outlast Mavericks, take Game 1 of Western Conference Final

The Golden State Warriors claimed a 112-87 win over the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Final opener at the Chase Center to lead the series 1-0 and put themselves in a strong position.

The Warriors and Mavericks were facing each other after having defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns, respectively, in the Western Conference semifinals.

The Golden State Warriors started the game quickly and claimed a 28-18 lead after the first quarter. They went into half-time with a 54-45 lead and simply finished off the game in the second half by a 58-42 scoreline.

The Golden State Warriors’ success in the game was largely because of their ability to limit Luka Doncic’s scoring thanks to good defensive work by Andrew Wiggins, who certainly left his mark on the 23-year-old Mavericks star.

Doncic finished the game with only 20 points and seven rebounds, while Steph Curry led the scoring for the Warriors with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Wiggins and Jordan Poole each scored 19 points for the Warriors in the game.

The Western Conference Final continues with Game 2 at Chase Center on Friday as both sides will look to get going in the series.
