Watch Super Eagles first training session with interim coach Finidi George
Nigeria Super Eagles trained for the first time under the tutelage of interim coach, Finidi George on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in Marackech, Morocco.
At least 80% of the invited Super Eagles stars were present for the session on Tuesday.
These friendly fixtures mark the Super Eagles’ return to action since their defeat in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final against Cote d’Ivoire in January. The team is set to face Ghana on March 22nd followed by a match against Mali four days later.
In anticipation of these games, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) initially invited 26 players to the squad, with Enyimba coach Finidi George assuming the role of head coach following the departure of Jose Peseiro. However, the team encountered setbacks as four players, including Victor Osimhen, Gabriel Osho, Tyrone Ebuehi, and Taiwo Awoniyi, withdrew from the squad.
As of the latest update, seventeen players have arrived at the camp, namely Stanley Nwabali, Cyriel Dessers, Nathan Tella, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Calvin Bassey, Jamilu Collins, Bruno Onyemaechi, Alhassan Yusuf, Semi Ajayi, Raphael Onyedika, Ademola Lookman, Olorunleke Ojo, Benjamin Tanimo and Sadiq Umar.
