Aston Villa’s 24 year old striker, Ollie Watkins was on target as his side defeated Arsenal 1-0 at Villa Park in their Matchday 23 encounter in the English Premier League on Saturday.
The Englishman found the back of the net barely 2 minutes into the game at Villa Park after Bertrand Traore’s cutback fell to him in the box. Villa held on for the rest of the game to run out one nil winners against Arsenal.
The result meant that Aston Villa have now done the double over Arsenal this season having beaten them 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the reverse fixture. This was the first time since the 1992/93 season that Villa have done the double over Arsenal in the EPL. Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez who was signed from Arsenal has now kept clean sheets in both games he’s faced his former employers in.
Arsenal now lie in 10th place on the table, having picked up 31 points after 23 games. Aston Villa are in 8th place with 35 points after having played only 21 games.
