Werder Bremen’s Felix Agu Open to Playing for Nigeria
Werder Bremen defender, Felix Agu, has said he is open to playing for Nigeria. The 25-year-old was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and a German mother.
Although he has played twice for Germany’s U-21 team, Agu is still eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level.
Speaking to Oma Sports, Agu said it would be a dream to play for the Super Eagles.
“To play at the national level has always been a dream of mine. I made part of that decision already by playing for the German under-21 team,” he said.
“But I’ve spoken a lot with Justin Njinmah about playing for Nigeria, and we both think it would be a dream come true.”
Agu has made 14 league appearances for Werder Bremen this season. He was born on 27 September 1999 in Osnabrück, Germany, but now hopes to switch his international future to Nigeria.
Known for his dribbling, agility, balance, and quick reactions, Agu played twice for Germany’s U-21 team in 2019 but has yet to receive a call-up to the senior national team.
With his interest now clear, the Nigeria Football Federation may consider inviting the Werder Bremen star to join the Super Eagles soon.
