What Daniel Amokachi said after watching his Lobi Stars team slip to 20th on NPFL standings

Lobi Stars technical adviser, Daniel Amokachi, has shared his thoughts following their recent 1-0 defeat to Remo Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), a result that sees Lobi Stars sitting at the bottom of the table with just nine points from ten games.

Michael Ibe’s goal sealed the win for Remo Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, further complicating Lobi Stars’ season.

Despite the setback, Amokachi expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, noting the players’ adaptation to his coaching style. “We played a 4-5-1 formation away from home, and it suits us very well. When you play like that, you need to be focused 120%, but when you go to sleep, you get punished,” Amokachi explained, pointing to his team’s lapse in concentration as the reason for their loss.

The former Super Eagles star also acknowledged the challenge of working with the current squad due to the closed transfer window but commended the team’s tactical improvement, saying, “I am happy the lads are responding very well. Tactically, if you watch the game, they had a decent game.”

Ahead of the match, Lobi Stars announced the arrival of Finnish coach Mika Lönnström, a UEFA Pro Licence holder, who will collaborate with Amokachi as they aim to improve the team’s fortunes.

With Lobi Stars struggling in 20th place, the addition of Lönnström brings hope for a turnaround as the team seeks to climb out of the relegation zone in the NPFL.
