What did Enyimba head coach Yemi Olanrewaju say about CAF Confederation Cup draw
Enyimba FC head coach Yemi Olanrewaju has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete in what many are calling the “group of death” in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Nigerian champions have been drawn into Group B alongside defending champions Zamalek, Al Masry, and Black Bulls.
While acknowledging the tough competition, Olanrewaju believes his side is well-prepared to face the challenges ahead. “This is the toughest group in the competition, but this is Enyimba FC. We will do everything we can to uphold the club’s name and fight to advance,” Olanrewaju told Flashscore.
He emphasized that true champions must be ready to face any opponent, saying, “We might have preferred a less challenging group, but champions know they must be ready for anyone.”
Olanrewaju also warned against underestimating Black Bulls from Mozambique, a team less familiar to many. “Everyone is focused on Al Masry and Zamalek, but nobody is mentioning Black Bulls. Teams like that can surprise you when you’re not prepared,” he added.
Despite the pressure from Enyimba’s fans, Olanrewaju remains focused on the task at hand. “Coaching Enyimba comes with pressure. The fans expect us to win, and that keeps us on our toes. We will use the next month to prepare and improve our performance,” he said.
Enyimba will kick off their campaign against Al Masry on October 27th in Egypt.
