What Mo Salah Said After Signing New Liverpool Contract
Mohamed Salah has shared why he chose to sign a new contract with Liverpool, ending months of speculation about his future at the club.
Salah’s previous deal was set to run out in the summer, but Liverpool confirmed on Friday that the Egyptian star has agreed to a new two-year contract extension. The new deal will keep him at the club until 2027 and is reportedly worth £350,000 per week.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Salah said:
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.”
The 31-year-old remains a key player under new manager Arne Slot as Liverpool chase another Premier League title. Since joining the club from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 243 goals in 394 games, making him one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history.
Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, broke their usual rule of not offering new contracts to players over 30 by giving Salah this extension—showing just how important he still is to the team.
Salah has already won eight major trophies with Liverpool and is hoping to add more before his new deal ends.
