He has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season and so has eyes on him. Super Eagles defender Ola Aina’s contract with English Premier League club Nottingham Forest will end in the summer of 2025.
The Nigerian player, who joined Forest in 2023, signed a contract extension on May 21, 2024, to stay at the club for another year.
Currently, Nottingham Forest is in great form with 47 points, just nine points behind league leaders Liverpool. Aina has been a key player for the team, helping in both defence and attack.
Is Aina free to leave? This question remains unclear. Aina is considered one of the club’s key players, thanks to his strong performances.
This season, Aina has scored two goals and provided an assist as a defender. His goals helped Forest win against West Ham United and Brentford FC, making him an important part of manager Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans. His good form has also attracted interest from other clubs who may try to sign him.
However, Espírito Santo is not worried about Aina’s contract situation, saying, “I don’t think there’s an issue with his contract. He, Murillo, and Chris Wood are all doing well. The people in charge of that are taking care of it. It’s good when a player is happy, and there’s no issue from the club’s side. We just want our players to feel good and do their best on the pitch.”
Several clubs are interested in Aina. In January 2025, he was linked with a move to Galatasaray, where he could join Victor Osimhen. He was also considered a possible replacement for Kyle Walker at Manchester City after Walker’s move to AC Milan, and AS Roma reportedly spoke to Aina’s representatives about a deal.
