‘Why i decided to continue as FC Barcelona coach’ – Xavi Hernandez
FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has shed light on his choice to stay with the LaLiga club, reversing his earlier decision to step down as head coach in the summer.
In a surprising turn of events, Xavi, who had previously announced his intention to leave despite having a contract until 2025, has opted to prolong his tenure at the Nou Camp following discussions with the club’s president, Joan Laporta, and other key figures.
The 44-year-old, a former Spain midfielder, has now articulated the reasons behind his change of heart, citing the unwavering support and confidence shown to him by the club’s leadership and players.
“I reconsidered because I genuinely felt a complete trust from the president, the board, and the players as well. This project isn’t concluded yet,” Xavi explained.
He emphasised a collective belief within himself, his coaching staff, and the team, expressing conviction in their ability to achieve significant milestones together and further advance the club’s ongoing project.
“Me, my staff, all together feel that we have strength to make important things together and continue this project,” Xavi said.
