Why Pedro doesn’t want to play for Chelssa beyond June 30th
Spanish forward Pedro Rodriguez has chosen not to play for Chelsea football club beyond June 30th.
The former Barcelona forward has reportedly decided not to kick the ball for the London side despite the return of Premier League and football across the globe.
The 32-year-old forward whose contract with Chelsea expires at the end of this June has reportedly agreed a move to Italian outfit, Roma.
According to the Athletic, the Spaniard is not interested in signing any short term contract with Chelsea so he could help the club finish the season.
Pedro is said to have agreed a two-year deal with Roma on a £56,000-a-week contract that will see him earn £2.9million year in Italy.
While Chelsea are not interested in giving him a long-term contract, they are willing to give him a short term contract that will make him available to them for the conclusion of the season.
With the return of football, Chelsea are fighting for a top four finish in the league, still in the FA Cup and Champions League, they would need all the players they can get.
But Pedro has said he is not willing to play for the Blues because any injury he sustains could scupper his chances of completing the move to Roma.
Chelsea have agreed deals with Chelsea agreed terms with Olivier Giroud and Willy Caballero and are hoping to tie Willian down on a short-term deal.
Chelsea resume action against relegation-battlers Aston Villa on Sunday and Pedro Rodriguez may not be in action if the report is true.
