Why the 2025 Akwa Ibom FA Cup Semi-Final Dates Have Been Changed
The semi-final dates for the 2025 Akwa Ibom State Federation Cup have been rescheduled due to a conflict with a Nigeria Women’s League match involving Ibom Angels FC. The original dates, set for Wednesday, 19th February and Thursday, 20th February 2025, had to be adjusted to avoid overlapping with the Ibom Angels’ game at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The first semi-final, between Eagle Eye FC and Heavens Race Academy, will now take place on Thursday, 20th February 2025, at 3:00 PM. The second semi-final, featuring Godswill Akpabio United FC and Akwa United FC, will be held on Friday, 21st February 2025, also at 3:00 PM. Both matches will be played at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Comrade Kufre Etukudo, Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, explained the rescheduling, stating that the adjustment was made to accommodate the ongoing league fixtures. He reassured fans and teams that the competition would continue smoothly and expressed excitement for the upcoming matches: “We understand the inconvenience this schedule change might cause, but we have worked closely with all involved clubs to ensure that the competition progresses smoothly. Both matches will be pivotal as the teams fight for a place in the final.”
The final of the 2025 Akwa Ibom State Federation Cup will still take place as planned on Sunday, 23rd February 2025. The winners of the semi-finals will go on to represent Akwa Ibom at the national finals for the chance to win the prestigious title.
To reach the semi-finals, Godswill Akpabio United FC defeated Regnant FC 6-0, Akwa United triumphed 3-1 over Pillars Investors Academy, Eagle Eye Academy beat 7th Wonders Academy 6-0, and Heavens Race Academy won 5-4 in a penalty shootout against Dakkada FC.
