Why Victor Osimhen will not consider Juventus move

Victor Osimhen has rejected a move to Juventus this summer, as the Nigerian striker is not convinced he would be a key player at the Turin club.

Despite interest from several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, Osimhen has ruled out joining Juventus, mainly because he fears falling behind in the pecking order.

One major reason for his decision is the presence of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is favoured by Juventus’ current coach Igor Tudor. Tudor recently said he rates Vlahovic higher than Osimhen, and the Croatian is expected to become the club’s full-time manager if he secures a Champions League spot this season.

Osimhen is concerned he could be used as a backup if Tudor remains in charge. Juventus are also planning to build their attack around rising star Kenan Yildiz and Vlahovic, which could leave Osimhen sidelined despite his high profile and wages.

The Nigerian striker also remembers how former Juventus coach Antonio Conte, who might return to the club, once left him out of a Serie A squad when he was in charge. This adds to Osimhen’s doubts about joining the Bianconeri.

Another issue is the Juventus fanbase. Osimhen helped Napoli win the Serie A title in the 2022/23 season, and many Juventus supporters may never fully accept him because of that. The pressure to perform would be intense, and he risks facing criticism if he doesn’t hit top form quickly.

Osimhen is currently enjoying a good spell on loan at Galatasaray under José Mourinho, who has been linked with the Juventus job. If Mourinho takes over in Turin, Osimhen might reconsider, as he is impressed by the Portuguese manager’s trust in him.

For now, though, Osimhen prefers to wait for better offers, with PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United still showing strong interest. His €75 million release clause makes him an attractive option, but any move will depend on clubs meeting both his price tag and wage demands.
