It’s official: Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Barau FC of Kano have sealed promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following impressive performances at the 2025 NNL Super 8 playoffs.
Wikki Tourists Return to the Topflight
Wikki Tourists secured their return to top-tier football in dominant fashion, thrashing Yobe Desert Warriors 4–0 in their final Group A match played Thursday morning in Asaba.
Under the guidance of experienced coach Abdul Maikaba, the Bauchi-based side topped the Northern Conference group with 7 points from three matches.
Their promotion marks a swift comeback to the NPFL after relegation last season.
History Made: Barau FC Earn First-Ever Promotion
In another major story, Barau FC of Kano have gained promotion to the NPFL for the first time in their history.
The privately-owned club—founded and funded by Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin—finished second in the group with 5 points from three matches, edging out other contenders in the tight Northern Conference race.
Barau FC’s rise caps a remarkable journey for the young club, which has now earned its place among the country’s elite teams.
