Wilfred Ndidi to leave Leceister City this summer
Wilfred Ndidi could be on his way out of Leicester City this summer, SportsRation exclusively reports with insights from a source close to the Super Eagles star.
At the time of this report, Besiktas and three unnamed clubs are reportedly keen on signing the Nigerian star.
Ndidi, 27, has been a key player for the Foxes during a difficult season that saw the club relegated from the Premier League with five matches still to play. Despite the team’s struggles, the midfielder made 24 league appearances and registered four assists, often standing out as one of Leicester’s more consistent performers.
Having spent eight years at the club since joining from Genk in 2017, Ndidi may feel the time is right to seek a new challenge—especially now that Leicester face another season in the Championship.
According to Turkish outlet iyi ki Besiktas var, Besiktas are prepared to return for Ndidi after failing to sign him last summer. The Istanbul-based side, former champions of the Turkish Super Lig, are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season and believe Ndidi could be a perfect fit.
However, a deal for the Nigerian international may not be straightforward. Ndidi is currently valued at €18 million on Transfermarkt, a fee that could prove steep for most Turkish clubs. His wages may also be an obstacle unless Besiktas offload one of their high earners.
In addition to Besiktas, at least three other clubs—reportedly outside Turkey—are monitoring Ndidi’s situation and could make offers in the coming weeks. One of those clubs could come from Saudi Arabia, where teams are known to offer lucrative deals to experienced players. If such a move materialises, Ndidi might consider it given the financial incentives.
With Leicester expected to offload some senior players to reduce their wage bill and rebuild in the Championship, Ndidi’s exit looks increasingly likely.
As interest grows, the Nigeria international will have to weigh his options carefully—whether to pursue European football with Besiktas or secure a big-money move elsewhere.
