Wilfred Ndidi Tops Key Premier League Stat Despite Injury Setbacks
Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for Leicester City and the Super Eagles, has outperformed top Premier League stars like Alexis Mac Allister and Casemiro in a key defensive stat this season. Despite battling injuries, Ndidi ranks fourth among all Premier League midfielders for the highest number of defensive actions.
Ndidi has played 15 matches this season, providing four assists. However, he has been sidelined since December, missing Leicester City’s last six games across all competitions. Since his injury, Leicester has struggled, winning only once against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup, and conceding at least two goals in each match.
A new report from Data MB highlights Ndidi’s importance to Leicester’s defense. He has recorded 181 defensive actions, ranking just behind Moises Caicedo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Bruno Guimaraes. Ndidi’s defensive stats are better than many top midfielders, including Mac Allister and Casemiro.
Leicester City’s struggles without Ndidi are clear, as no other Leicester midfielder is in the top 16 for defensive actions. Currently sitting in 19th place, two points away from safety, Leicester will hope for improvement when Ndidi returns in the next two weeks.
