Al Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus has dismissed the possibility of signing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah during the January transfer window but hinted at a potential move in the summer.
The 32-year-old Egyptian star was previously linked with Al Hilal but chose to extend his contract with Liverpool. However, that contract is set to expire at the end of this season, and Salah has openly stated that this could be his final year at Anfield, as talks over a renewal have stalled.
Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly the most interested in securing Salah’s services, with speculation suggesting they might attempt to sign him in January rather than wait until he becomes a free agent.
Despite Al Hilal’s ambitions in the Saudi Pro League and AFC Champions League, Jesus made it clear that a January move for Salah or any other major star is off the table.
“Salah or other big names won’t come this winter… but maybe this summer,” Jesus said after Al Hilal’s emphatic 9-0 win over Al-Fateh.
The Saudi club has faced challenges this season, including the long-term injury of Neymar, their marquee signing. With Neymar sidelined, Al Hilal are reportedly looking to bring in another global star, and Salah is considered a prime target for the summer transfer window.
