William Troost-Ekong sends touching farewell message to PAOK

William Troost-Ekong has shared a heartfelt farewell message to PAOK Thessaloniki and its fans as he prepares for a new chapter in his football career.

The Nigerian defender, who was named the AFCON 2023 Player of the Tournament, is set to join Saudi Pro League side Al Kholood after a successful stint with PAOK.

Troost-Ekong, who played a key role in PAOK’s Super League triumph, was a regular starter before a serious injury in February sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Despite the setback, he managed to make 22 appearances and scored one goal across all competitions for the Greek club.

In an emotional message posted on his social media, Troost-Ekong expressed his gratitude to PAOK, writing:

“Dear PAOK, After an amazing year and season in Thessaloniki, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to share and be part of those moments with you.

” I want to thank the president, club staff, medical team, General Lucescu, assistants, and especially my teammates who have become my family, for the belief and hard work that resulted in an unforgettable championship and special European nights. To the fans, thank you for the support through difficult times. Toumba is something special and now I understand what MONO PAOK means. I wish everyone another successful season and I will continue to follow PAOK. All the best, Will.”

Troost-Ekong’s move to Al Kholood comes in a deal reportedly worth €1.2 million, with the 30-year-old signing a two-year contract, including an option for an additional year. Al Kholood was recently promoted to the Saudi Pro League after finishing third in the country’s second tier.
