Wolves Agree €27m Deal to Sign Tolu Arokodare from Genk
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian club Genk for €27 million. The 23-year-old will undergo a medical on Saturday (today), according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano confirmed on social media that Wolves and Genk settled the deal on Friday night, with the medical scheduled for Saturday.
“Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker,” Romano wrote.
Arokodare had been in talks with Wolves, despite AC Milan showing interest in him. Milan had shifted their focus to Arokodare after struggling to sign Conrad Harder from Sporting CP.
Last season, Arokodare was the top scorer in the Belgian league, scoring 23 goals and providing 7 assists in 45 matches. However, this season, his involvement with Genk has dropped, as he has only appeared as a substitute in five games.
Genk’s sporting director, Dimitri De Condé, had previously said that there was a 99% chance Arokodare would leave the club, adding that the striker was “ready to take the next step” in his career.
This transfer is a key signing for Wolves as they aim to strengthen their attack in the Premier League.
