Women’s round up: Ondo lose again as Kaduna take ding-dong battle against Delta

Yobe hockey women’s team condemned Ondo State to their third straight loss after their scrappy 2-0 win on Tuesday to remain on course.

Ondo looked way better than they were in their first two losses to Kaduna and Delta but failed to find the scoring touch against Yobe State.

For the most part of the game they looked like the team which will score the goal but the goal never came instead it was Yobe who found the back the net.

The goals came in the 50th and 53rd minutes through Johnson Benedicta and Ejegwa Ajunwa respectively.

The win meant Yobe who plays Kaduna tomorrow must avoid defeat to stand a chance of winning a medal while Ondo who lost all their games are automatically out of a podium finish.

In the second game involving two titans in Nigeria women hockey, Kaduna and Delta, Mathias Ruth’s 15th minutes strike settled the tie.

It was a game of chess involving the teams representing Nigeria at the 2018 ACCC and it lived up to its expectations as we saw an end to end game.

The win meant Kaduna who now has 9 points from three games just need a draw to win the 2018 NSF gold medal while the loss meant Delta can only win a Bronze medal if the result involving their rivals favour them.
