Women’s World Cup: Zambia concede five again, bow 0-5 to Spain
Zambia bowed to another 0-5 loss at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, this time to Spain in their group C fixture on Wednesday July 26.
Teresa Abelleira and Jennifer Hermoso gave Spain a deserved 2-0 lead at halftime before Alba Redondo and Hermoso added three more in the second half to complete the 5-0 spanking of Zambia.
A miserable debut appearance it has been for the Copper ladies. Ten goals conceeded in two games, the first a 5-0 spanking by a ruthless Japanese team.
The result means Zambia are eliminated from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as Japan joins Spain on six points following their 2-0 win over Costa Rica today.
Costa Rica and Zambia will now play for pride in their last group stage game, at least opportunity to get their first goal or point at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on a day Spain and Japan will fight for top spot in group C.
