Xabi Alonso reportedly makes Liverpool decision
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has made a decision on the managerial vacancy at Liverpool. SportsRation reports.
According to a report by Mail Sport, Alonso is set to reject the opportunity to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Additionally, Alonso will also turn down an offer from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, opting instead to remain with Leverkusen for another year.
The news comes amidst strong speculation linking Alonso with a move to Liverpool, following Klopp’s announcement of his departure from the Premier League side this summer. However, there has been no indication from Alonso himself that he is keen on leaving the Bundesliga leaders.
With Alonso seemingly committed to staying at Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim emerges as the leading candidate for the managerial position at Liverpool. Alongside Amorim, Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is also being considered for the role.
It is reported that Amorim, aged 39, is likely to undergo an interview for the position at Liverpool. Internal data tests suggest that he has performed well, making him a strong contender for the managerial role at the club.
