Zambia exit 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with historic win over Costa Rica

Zambia exit the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a historic 3-1 win over Costa Rica on Monday July 31.

Debutants Zambia did suffer back to back 5-0 losses to Japan and Spain to confirm their elimination before the game vs Costa Rica.

The African ladies did just enough to win their first ever World Cup match and in emphatic style.

A Herrera goal saw Costa Rica fight back in the second half but they weren’t clinical enough to get the job done. Both nations exit the World Cup while Japan and Spain go through from the group.

For Zambia, their first and third goals made history as the fastest and 1000th I’m the tournament history.

Meanwhile, it is Japan who finish top of the group with nine points following a 4-0 spanking of Spain.
