Zambia Women’s team Coach under investigation for sexual abuse

The Federation of International Football – FIFA has revealed that Zambia Women’s team Coach Bruce Mwape is under investigation for alleged sexual abuse.

The incident under investigation occured before Zambia Women’s national team faced Costa Rica in their last group game of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

According to the reports, Bruce Mwape allegedly rubbed his his hands on the chest of one of the Zambia Women’s national team players, an incident that attracted formal petition to FIFA.

” FIFA takes any allegation of misconduct extremely seriously and has a clear process in place for anyone in football who wants to report an incident,”a FIFA spokesperson told ESPN.

” We can confirm that a complaint has been received in relation to the Zambian women’s national team and this is currently being investigated.

“We cannot provide further details regarding an ongoing investigation for obvious confidentiality reasons.” FIFA said.

In defence of their 63-year old manager, Zambia’s Football Association has expressed surprise over the allegations stating all training sessions were covered by the media crew and no such incidents appear in the clips.

Meanwhile , the Shepolopolo of Zambia were eliminated at the group stage following back to back 5-0 defeats to Japan and Spain.

Bruce Mwape tutored Zambian ladies however defeated Costa Rica 3-1 in their last group game to bow out of their debut Women’s World Cup appearance with an historic win.
