NPFL Week 4 Review: Enyimba win first league game, Lobi trash El-kanemi to go top

No away wins in week 4 NPFL matches played across the Federation as the away teams failed to pull any surprises. A total of 23 goals were scored with an average of 2.3 goals per game, a total of 8 wins and 2 draws.

Leonard’s 89th minute strike was all Enyimba needed to secure the 3 maximum points at Aba Township Stadium as they beat stubborn Ikorodu United. It was Enyimba’s first win of the new campaign.

In Markurdi, at the Aper Aku Stadium, Lobi Stars defeated El-Kanemi Warriors for the first time in the NPFL since March 2007. Anthony Okpotu’s brace and Nanen Imenger solo effort was all Lobi Stars needed to secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors.

In Anambra, at Nnewi Stadium on Wednesday evening, FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Brazilian import Alberico Barbosa da Silva, Ghanaian Kofi Nti and Beninese Seka Pascal scored to secure a comfortable 3-1 victory over Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan.

Last weekend’s hat-trick hero Wasiu Jimoh reduced the deficit but home side were too good on the night. Shooting Stars FC, have 3 points from 3 games and are 15th on the log.

In Jos, at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Giwa FC recorded their first win of the season following a 2-1 victory over Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt on Wednesday . Moses Opitoke’s 8th minute strike settled the tie in Jos.

In Lagos, at Agege Stadium goal in each half by Musa Newman and Odey Stephen helped MFM FC to a 2-1 victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure. Kadiri Samad’s equalized for Sunshine Stars but Odey’s late effort earned MFM FC the maximum 3 points.

MFM FC now have 9 points from 4 games, they are 2nd on the log with 9 points same as the league leaders Lobi Stars who has superior goal difference.
