REBUILDING THE BRIDGE – Five players Conte should sign for Chelsea
By: Praise Erics @1Eminence
Now that he has become the ‘selected one’, Antonio Conte is faced with the task of rebuilding the ‘broken Bridge’ and make it a fortress as it was back in the days of Mourinho’s first spell.
Its obvious he needs reinforcements to be able to achieve the target set before him. Here are lists of some players I believe he should bring to Chelsea next season.
1. ANTONIO RUDIGER
Having pursued Varane and Stones all these while without any successful bids, its time The Blues turned their attention to this young German. The 23-year-old self proclaimed Arsenal fan has been strongly linked with The Blues in the past, and is now back on their radar as they eye defensive reinforcements with John Terry coming of age.
2. JOSE GAYA
Emerged as one of the European Football brightest young talents at 20, Conte should consider making a swoop for the young Spaniard. His arrival might will surely put Rahman’s position under threat.
3. RADJA NAINGGOLAN
With Matic been a shadow of himself and Mikel been the only experienced option available, Conte would definitely
need a ‘steel’ in this department. According to reports, Conte has already discussed transfers with the Chelsea board and Nainggolan is understood to have featured heavily in the conversation.
4. MIRALEM PJANIC
Often referred to as the ‘old-fashioned playmaker with huge technical qualities’, Pjanic would surely compete with the likes of Oscar & Fabregas for a place in the starting XI. A versatile playmaker & a free-kick specialist, he will be a direct fit to Conte’s Chelsea next season.
5. MAURO ICARDI
Scoring 46 goals in 76 starts for Inter Milan is certainly not a fluke. Lethal in front of goal, shoots with boot feet
and ability to find spaces in crowded zone, Conte should do all he can to bring the 23year old to the bridge as a support to Diego costa.
