Bulls have ´three alphas´ but it´s Butler´s team – Rondo

With Dwyane Wade set to join, the Chicago Bulls now have “three alphas” on their roster, but recruit Rajon Rondo insists it is Jimmy Butler’s team.

Chicago-born Wade – a winner of three NBA titles – announced his intention to sign for the Bulls from the Miami Heat as a free agent on Wednesday, while 2008 champion Rondo was unveiled on Thursday.

The pair arrive in Chicago as the Bulls attempt to build around two-time All-Star Butler following Derrick Rose’s departure to the New York Knicks.

And Rondo, a four-time All-Star, believes the trio can coexist in Chicago.

“Jimmy’s the youngest, he’s the engine here,” Rondo told reporters on Thursday. “It’ll be Jimmy, Wade, and then it will be a pecking order.

“The main thing is that we have three alphas. There will be three alphas on the team.

“Just trying to mesh together and try to make sure we are doing the best thing for the team.”

Pointing to his experience with the Boston Celtics, where he played alongside the ‘Big Three’ of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, Rondo added: “I was able to see how those guys interacted with one another. Knowing that everything doesn’t have to be perfect in practice.

“You’re going to disagree, but if you all have one common goal at the end of the day and that’s to get a W, that’s all that matters. Egos go out the window and we all have one common goal.”
