Arsene Wenger to offer cash plus Olivier Giroud for Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will reportedly meet with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis this week to discuss a potential move for striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Gunners have been linked with a big-money move for a striker this summer after the likes of Olivier Giroud andTheo Walcott struggled at times during the 2015-16 campaign.
Italian media outlet RaiSport claims that they have made Higuain their number one target after the Argentina international scored 36 Serie A goals last season, equalling the all-time record set in 1928-29.
The report goes on to say that Arsenal have offered Napoli €50m (£42.2m) plus Giroud for the 28-year-old, in addition to offering the player a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger will reportedly meet with Napoli officials, including Laurentiis, in London on Thursday, with the Italian outfit understood to be seriously considering the offer.
