2022 Conference semifinals: Giannis takes center stage as Bucks outlast Celtics in Game 1

Old heads come through for Warriors in road win over Grizzlies

Giannis Antetokounmpo was at it again for the Milwaukee Bucks as they claimed a 101-89 win on the road over the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the 2022 Conference semifinals.

Despite being without the stricken Khris Middleton, who is confirmed to miss the entire 2022 Conference semifinals, Giannis Antetokounmpo took charge for the Bucks, with Jrue Holiday also providing a brilliant performance.

Despite the Celtics’ brilliant defense, Antetokounmpo showed how completely his game has developed by recording a triple-double for his side. He showed elite playmaking and defending to finish with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists for his side, becoming only the sixth player in history to have multiple playoff games with 20+ points, 12+ rebounds and 12+ assists. Jrue Holiday finished with 25 points and Bobby Portis scored 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Golden State Warriors took Game 1 of their 2022 Conference semifinals on the road with a 117-116 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

One of the youngest teams in the league, the Memphis Grizzlies showed great quality to take a 116-114 lead with 40 seconds of the game remaining before Klay Thompson drained a shot from deep to give the Warriors a 117-116 lead. Steph Curry and a combination of Gary Payton II and Thompson then denied Ja Morant on two layup attempts as the Warriors closed out the win.

Ja Morant finished the game with 34 points and 10 assists, and Jaren Jackson Jr recorded 33 points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Jordan Poole scored 31 points for the Warriors, with Curry and Thompson contributing 24 and 15 points, respectively.
