2023 Australian Open Day Six: Murray bows out as Djokovic, Bencic progress

Sabalenka, Pliskova, Rublev all through to fourth round

Roberto Bautista Agut ended Andy Murray‘s impressive run in the 2023 Australian Open and booked his place in the fourth round of the tournament. After coming through two grueling five-set matches, Murray did not have enough to take down Bautista Agut, who claimed a 6-1 6-7 6-3 6-4 win in four sets to progress.

Novak Djokovic made light work of Grigor Dimitrov, dispatching the 27th seeded Bulgarian in straight sets. The fourth seed claimed a 7-6 6-4 6-3 win to advance to the fourth round in Melbourne.

Andrey Rublev defeated British 25th seed Dan Evans in straight sets to reach the fourth round in Melbourne. The Russian fifth seed won the match 6-4 6-2 6-3 to progress.

Ninth seed Holger Rune eased past unseeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert in straight sets to qualify for the fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open. The Norwegian won the match 6-4 6-2 7-6 to reach the next round.

Australian star Alex De Minaur claimed a straight sets win over Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, knocking him out of the 2023 Australian Open. The 22nd seed won the match 7-6 6-2 6-1 to progress to the fourth round.

In the women’s draw, fourth seed Caroline Garcia defeated Laura Siegemund in three sets. The French star won the match after losing the first set 1-6 and rallying back to record a 1-6 6-3 6-3 win.

Fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elise Mertens in straight sets to reach the fourth round. The Belarusian star won 6-2 6-3, ensuring she has not dropped a set in Melbourne.

Belinda Bencic booked her place in the fourth round with a straight sets win over Italy’s Camila Giorgi in the third round of the 2023 Australian Open. The Swiss 12th seed claimed a 6-2 7-5 win over her opponent.

Linda Fruhvirtova defeated fellow Czech star Marketa Vondrousova in three sets to reach the fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open. Fruhvirtova won the match 7-5 2-6 6-3 to progress.

Karolina Pliskova booked her fourth round spot with a straight sets win over Varvara Gracheva. The 30th seed Czech star won the match 6-4 6-2 to progress.
