2023 BAL: NBBF champs Kwara Falcons drawn in Sahara Conference

NBBF Champions Kwara Falcons have received their draw for the 2023 Basketball Africa League scheduled for March 11th to 21st in Dakar, Senegal. The Nigerian champions becomes the first team from the country to participate in the tournament since Rivers Hoopers in 2021.

Kwara Falcons made it into the BAL after securing the NBBF league title in November. They have also won two more tournaments since then, the Bullet Tournament and the Louis Edem Foundation Invitational Tournament. They have been drawn into the Sahara Conference for the competition alongside five other teams, including the Reigning BAL champions US Monastir of Tunisia. The other teams in the conference include Cote d’Ivoire’s Abidjan BC, Mali’s Stade Malien, Senegal’s AS Douanes, and REG from Rwanda.

After the conclusion of the Sahara Conference, the Nile Conference of the league will take place between April 26th and May 6th, also in Dakar. The teams in the Nile Conference include Al-Ahly of Egypt, City Oilers of Uganda, Cape Town Tigers of South Africa, Beira CVF of Mozambique, Petro de Luanda of Angola, and SLAC of Guinea.

Kwara Falcons will hope to do better than Rivers Hoopers did in their appearance in the competition when the tournament tips off on March 11th in Dakar.
