2023 French Open Day Eight: Alcaraz, Djokovic, Tsitsipas, Khachanov through to quarterfinals

Sabalenka, Svitolina, Muchova, Pavluychenkova through to last eight

World number one Carlos Alcaraz stormed the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open after claiming a straight sets win over Lorenzo Musetti in their fourth round meeting. The Spaniard won the encounter 6-3 6-2 6-2 to progress to the last eight.

Novak Djokovic continued his quest for #23 as he picked up a straight sets win over Peruvian star Juan Pablo Varillas in their fourth round clash. The Serb won the match 6-3 6-2 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals in Roland Garros.

Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his impressive run of form as he dispatched unseeded Sebastian Ofner in straight sets to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open. The Greek fifth seed claimed a 7-5 6-3 6-0 win over his Austrian opponent to reach the last eight, where he will face Alcaraz.

Karen Khachanov came from a set down to defeat Italian star Lorenzo Sonego in their Round of 16 meeting at Roland Garros. The 11th seed won the clash 1-6 6-4 7-6 6-1 to book his quarterfinal spot against Djokovic.

In the women’s draw, world number two Aryna Sabalenka sealed her quarterfinal qualification with a straight sets win over Sloane Stephens. The Belarusian star claimed a 7-6 6-4 win over her American opponent to progress from the Round of 16 tie.

Elina Svitolina overcame ninth seed Daria Kasatkina in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open. The unseeded Ukrainian picked up a 6-4 7-6 win over her opponent to book her passage into the last eight where she will face Sabalenka.

Karolina Muchova defeated Elina Avanesyan in straight sets to qualify for the last eight in Roland Garros. The Czech star picked up a 6-4 6-3 win to progress from the fourth round clash.

Anastasia Pavluychenkova came from a set down to defeat Elise Mertens and book her place in the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open against Muchova. The unseeded Russian defeated the Belgian 3-6 7-6 6-3 to progress beyond the Round of 16 at Roland Garros.
