2023 French Open Day Ten: Alcaraz storms semis, sets up Djokovic clash

Sabalenka, Muchova to face off in semis

World number one Carlos Alcaraz affirmed his status as the best player on the planet by claiming a straight sets win over fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in their 2023 French Open quarterfinal meeting. The 20-year-old improved his record against Tsitsipas to 5-0 with a controlled 6-2 6-1 7-6 win at Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic overcame a first set slump to defeat 11th seed Karen Khachanov in four sets and reach the semifinals of the French Open in Roland Garros. The 22-time Grand Slam champion won the match 4-6 7-6 6-2 6-4 against the Russian to book his semifinal meeting with present World number one Alcaraz. Djokovic reached his 45th career Grand Slam semifinal, making him the player with the third-most Grand Slam semifinal appearance in the Open Era.

In the women’s draw, Aryna Sabalenka booked her place in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open following a straight sets win over Elina Svitolina. The world number two claimed a 6-4 6-4 win over the Ukrainian to continue her fine form in the Grand Slam.

Karolina Muchova defeated Anastasia Pavluychenkova in straight sets to reach the semifinals of the tournament in Roland Garros. The Czech star claimed a 7-5 6-2 win over her Russian opponent to book a place in the last four against Sabalenka.
