2023 Wimbledon Day 4: Brady stuns Ruud as Muchova crashes out

Zverev, Tiafoe, Rublev, Pegula all go through

British wildcard and World number 142 Liam Broady picked up the biggest win of his career as he defeated French Open finalist and World number four Casper Ruud in five sets to reach the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. Broad became the first British player to beat a top five player since 2013 when he picked up a 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-3 6-0 win over Norwegian star Ruud.

Unseeded Swede Mikael Ymer came back from two sets down to knock out ninth seed Taylor Fritz and reach the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship for the first time in his career. Ymer recovered from a 3-6 2-6 deficit to take the next three sets and secure a 3-6 2-6 6-3 6-4 6-2 win that sends him into the third round.

Seventh seed Andrey Rublev won his all-Russian second round clash against Aslan Karatsev to book his place in the third round. Rublev came back from a set down to defeat his compatriot 6-7 6-3 6-4 7-5 in the clash.

Tenth seed Frances Tiafoe defeated Swiss star Dominic Stephan Stricker in straight sets to qualify for the third round of the competition. The American picked up a 7-6 6-4 6-2 win in the match.

Alexander Zverev defeated Dutch player Gijs Brouwer in straight sets to book his place in the second round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. The German star won 6-4 7-6 7-6 in his first match at the tournament.

In the women’s draw, French Open finalist Karolina Muchova was sent packing following a shock defeat to Jule Niemeier in the first round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. Niemeier won the match 6-4 5-7 6-1 to stun the 16th seed.

Fourth seed Jessica Pegula defeated Spaniard Cristina Bucsa in straight sets to reach the third round of the competition. The American star won 6-1 6-4 to progress from the second round.

Third seed Elena Rybakina defeated Alize Cornet in straight sets to reach the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. Rybakina claimed a 6-2 7-6 win to progress.

Fifth seed Caroline Garcia recovered from a set down to defeat Leylah Annie Fernandez and book her place in the third round. The French woman won the match 3-6 6-4 7-6 to progress.

Unseeded 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva shocked tenth seed Barbora Krejcikova, who was forced to retire through injury in the second set. Andreeva was leading the match 6-3 4-0 when Krejcikova retired.
