2023 Wimbledon Day Five: Djokovic, Alcaraz, Swiatek, Medvedev all progress

Tsitsipas send Murray crashing out, Jabeur, Sabalenka progress

Second seed Novak Djokovic continued his impressive form with a straight sets win over Stan Wawrinka in the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was ruthless as he claimed a 6-3 6-1 7-6 win over his unseeded Swiss opponent to reach the Fourth Round.

World number one Carlos Alcaraz booked his place in the third round of the tournament with a straight sets win over unseeded Frenchman Alexandre Muller. The 20-year-old Spaniard claimed a 6-4 7-6 6-3 win over his opponent to progress from the second round match.

Eighth seed Jannik Sinner came from a set down to defeat Quentin Halys and reach the Fourth round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. The Italian star won the match 3-6 6-2 6-3 6-4 to progress from the third round.

Third seed Daniil Medvedev eased past French star Adrian Mannarino in straight sets to qualify for the third round of the competition. The Russian star recorded a 6-3 6-3 7-6 win to progress in the competition.

Stefanos Tsitsipas showed great dexterity to hold off a valiant fight-back from Andy Murray and reach the third round of the competition. The fifth seed won the match 7-6 6-7 4-6 7-6 6-4 to send the experienced Brit crashing out of the tournament.

In the women’s draw, World number one Iga Swiatek eased into the fourth round with a straight sets win over 30th seed Petra Martic. Swiatek won the match 6-2 7-5 against her Croatian opponent.

Sixth seed Ons Jabeur reached the third round via a straight sets win over China’s Zhuoxuan Bai in the second round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. The Tunisian star won the match 6-1 6-1 to progress into the third round.

Czech star Maria Bouzkova stunned fifth seed Caroline Garcia to reach the Fourth Round of the competition in style. The 32nd seed won the match 7-6 4-6 7-5 to progress from their encounter.

Fourth seed Jessica Pegula defeated unseeded Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets to reach the Fourth Round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship. The American claimed a 6-4 6-0 win to progress in the competition.

Second seed Aryna Sabalenka survived a scare against unseeded Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, coming from a set down to defeat her in their second round meeting. Sabalenka claimed a 2-6 7-5 6-2 win to qualify for the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championship.
