2024 Africa Academy Stars Tournament MVPs awarded scholarships
The 2024 Africa Academy Stars Tournament has delivered not only thrilling football action but also life-changing opportunities for young talents, as Island Stars Academy, on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, fulfilled its promise by awarding scholarships to the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) in the U-12 and U-14 categories.
Scholarships for Future Stars
Ephraim Edet (U-12) and Idongesit Offiong (U-14) emerged as MVPs of their respective categories and have had their school fees fully paid for the new academic session, courtesy of Island Stars Academy. These rising football stars have shown incredible promise on the field, and this support will allow them to continue both their education and football development.
The scholarship award adds further shine to the cash prizes for winners in the boysā U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, and girlsā categories, as well as individual awards, certificates, and accessories given to all participating players and coachesā all of which were delivered during the grand finale in Uyo.
Speaking about the development, SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan, who also served as tournament coordinator, praised Island Stars Academy, saying, “This initiative by Island Stars Academy is a testament to their unwavering commitment to nurturing young African talents. The 2024 Africa Academy Stars Tournament, held at the prestigious Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, featured over 700 young footballers competing across five categories. From the U-10 to U-16 divisions, the competition highlighted the depth of football talent in Nigeria and across Africa.
Aside from the footballing action at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and Uyo Township Stadium, several off-field attractions included food packs to keep fans and participants entertained.
