2025 AFCON: CAF Reveals Key Decisions After Meeting With Teams

The Confederation of African Football and the Local Organising Committee have held an online meeting with officials from the 24 countries that qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The meeting was organised to make sure the tournament runs smoothly.
Key Decisions
Each national team will be allowed to register up to 28 players from their provisional list of 55. They may also bring 17 members of staff, including coaches, medical staff, and administrators.
Teams can travel to Morocco up to five days before the opening ceremony to help with their preparations.
Clubs must release their players by 8 December, following FIFA rules.
The meeting also covered important matters such as visas, training grounds, accommodation, medical and anti-doping rules, media duties, and commercial arrangements.
Technical and Security Requests
Coaches asked for extra technical seats behind the benches, similar to those used in major leagues, to help with match analysis.
Delegations also stressed the need for strong security and privacy at team hotels so players can focus without interruptions.
Transport Arrangements
The organisers confirmed full transport support for all teams from five days before their first match until 24 hours after their final game. Each team will receive:
-
A 50-seater team bus
-
A separate vehicle for the head of delegation
-
An equipment truck
-
All airport and inter-city transport
Tournament Dates
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on 21 December 2025 and end on 18 January 2026, with Morocco hosting the event.
