The 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are off to an exciting start with several first-round matchups already underway.
On Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets kicked things off with a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round clash. Later that night, the Colorado Avalanche dominated the Dallas Stars 5-1 in their own series opener.
Sunday’s action began with the Carolina Hurricanes claiming a convincing 4-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference matchup. Two more games were scheduled for later on Sunday: the much-anticipated Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators (midnight GMT), and a Western Conference showdown between the Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild (3 a.m. GMT Monday).
The playoff action continues on Monday with the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens beginning their series at midnight GMT, followed by the Los Angeles Kings facing the Edmonton Oilers at 3 a.m. GMT Tuesday.
The defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, will get their title defence underway on Tuesday night when they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 1:30 a.m. GMT Wednesday.
With Game 1 results and thrilling matchups already setting the tone, the race for the 2025 Stanley Cup promises high intensity and fierce competition across the board.
