22 African Countries Now Eligible to Vote for Ballon d’Or After Rule Change
France Football, organisers of the famous Ballon d’Or award, have introduced a new voting system — and 22 African countries will now be allowed to take part.
Under the updated rules, only countries ranked in the top 100 of the FIFA World Rankings can vote for the prestigious prize, which is awarded to the best footballer in the world each year.
This means 22 nations from Africa will be able to vote in the next Ballon d’Or selection, showing how much the continent has progressed in global football.
The eligible African countries include some of the continent’s biggest footballing nations, such as Nigeria, Egypt, and Morocco.
