Wizards´ Wall fined $25,000 by NBA for bumping official

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Wednesday.

He received the fine for “inappropriate interaction with a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection” during a 114-106 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday, the league announced.

The fine stems from the final minute, when Wall was hit with his second technical foul and subsequently ejected with 33.3 seconds left in the game after bumping into referee Marc Davis.

“After granting the team a timeout, I felt that there was contact and that he bumped me,” Davis said after the game, via USA Today Sports.

“I wasn’t certain of his intent. I told him to watch himself. He looked over his shoulder and used vulgarity and inappropriate language and was ejected on his second technical foul.”

Wall has now collected three technical fouls and $31,000 in fines this season.

“We have to control our emotions,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said of the incident.

“It’s one of those things, it happens. It’s unfortunate. Don’t know if the outcome would’ve changed but we have to just control ourselves, our emotions.

“John’s always competitive. He’s always in the right place competitively so … going forward we have to make sure we don’t give them easy points.”
