26-years old Super Falcons striker Patricia George announces year-long break from football
Whereas Randy Waldrum and the Super Falcons are preparing for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, 26-years old Falcon Patricia George has announced a one year break from football.
The Nigerian-American striker announced the surprise decision on Sunday January 29, 2023 via her Facebook page @Patricia George.
In the post, Patricia George had words of thanksgiving for her last club Fenerbache before announcing she is hanging up her soccer cleats for the rest of 2023.
A one-cap Super Falcon, Patricia said she was following her heart and is not certain if she will return to the game after the year long break.
She wrote ” First, I would like to thank Fenerbahce for the opportunity!About a month ago we came to an agreement to part ways and allow me to do my rehab at home.
” With that being said I would like to let everyone know that I’ve decided to hang my soccer cleats up for at least this year and take a full break from playing soccer! It’s not a decision I made lightly but a decision that I know is right for me and my spirit.
” I Haven’t fully decided if I will try to make a comeback next year. But Right now I’m following my heart. And my heart is telling me to step away. ”
” Soccer has always been my identity so now I’m soul searching and finding myself outside of the game. Thank you everyone for all the support, Ive always appreciated all the love and positivity you guys send my way.
Make sure to still stay tuned cause this is a new beginning and a start to a new me. ” She concluded.
Patricia’s was part of the Super Falcons team for the Turkish Women’s Cup in 2021.
She made her debut in the green and white Jersey when she replaced Halima Ayinde who picked up a knock in the game against Russian Club, CSKA Moscow.
Niigeria clinched a 1 – 0 victory in that match courtesy of a goal scored by Chinwendu Ihezuo.
