Match Preview: Enyimba v Sunshine Stars

NPFL most successful team, Enyimba FC were so poor last season that they had to finish 10th, under Paul Aigbogun.
And they really deserved the position they finished due to their sloppy
performance all the time.
They kick start their season against Sunshine stars on Sunday at their
adopted Stadium in calabar with works still ongoing on their home ground.
Enyimba fans are highly expectant this season under new coach, Gbenga
Ogungbote who is poised to return the People’s Elephant back to the top
heights.
Gbenga Ogungbote is delighted to have joined Enyimba and is looking forward to working with the team.
Enyimba head coach Gbenga Ogunbote says his plans to restore the
People’s Elephants to their former glory was a motivation to join them.

“I feel great because am in a great team,” Ogunbote said.
“Enyimba is a big team not just in Nigeria but also Africa. For any coach to come here is always something to cherish.
“All we need to do is to see things as collective responsibilities. When a team that is used to winning laurels doesn’t get it once, it will be like heaven has dropped down. We want to see what we can do and make the club come back on track.
“Barcelona, a club that is adjudged the best team in the world is never satisfied otherwise there will be no need for them to reinforce their team. We won’t be satisfied until we achieve our dreams and objectives.
“We will see what we can do. I know that Enyimba isn’t a bad side and will never be. The club has always signed the best in the land and for sure we will try our best to make the team great again.”
Enyimba have prepared so hard for the season and recruited players like
Ibrahim Mustapha(El kanemi Warriors), Ismaila Gata (Ifeanyi Ubah), Stanley Dimgba(Sunshine stars), Tayo Adebogun(Giwa Fc) and some others.
They also signed Ghanaian players, goalkeeper Fatau Dada and defender
Tijani Joshua from Ashanti Gold. Fatau shall be competing for shirt with
brilliant Theophilus Afelokhai to man the polls.
For Sunshine Stars, they have re signed Aremu Afeez from Rivers United and also striker Yahuza Bala.
Yahuza Bala says his major focus is how to help the Akure-based team reach new heights.
According to the former Niger Tornadoes player, all hands are on deck
to record a successful season.
“We thank God for His mercies and I am really grateful for the chance to play for Sunshine Stars. It is a dream come true and I hope to do my best to help the team to success.
“We are very focused on the new season and we want to take each match as it comes. Against Enyimba in Calabar in our opening match, I hope to
do my best to help my team get a positive result,” he said.
The former Gateway United player has called on the people of Ondo State to give maximum support to Sunshine Stars as the team aim to do better than their previous performance in the past campaign.
“It is very important for our fans and soccer loving people of the state to give support to Sunshine Stars so that the players can always give their best” said Yahuza.
This game ended goalless last season at Enyimba ground and 2-1 victory for the Akure based side.
This game should be entertaining with goals.
