Ezuruike, Oyema, Nwosu lead as power-lifters win 5 medals to increase Nigeria’s tally to 7

It has been a golden day for team Nigeria as Ndidi Nwosu, Esther Oyema and Ezeruike won gold medals in their categories to help increase Team Nigeria’s tally at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Paul Kehinde and Lucy Ejike also won silver medals in their categories to help increase the tally won from powerlifting to 5 and total of 7 medals in all.

Roland Ezuruike won the gold medal in men’s Lightweight, his compatriot Paul Kehinde who is the world record holder in the category finished second and while England’s Ali Jawad finished third.

Esther Oyema also won the gold medal in the women’s lightweight category, Lucy Ejike claimed the silver medal while England’s Zoe Newson claimed the bronze.

Ndidi Nwosu won the gold medal in the women’s heavyweight category to increased the medal won by Nigeria in the Paralifting to 5 as at the time of this report.

With the five medals won today, Team Nigeria have now won a total of 7 medals; 3 gold medals all from powerlifting, 5 silver medals (1 from men’s table tennis team, 1 from Shot Put by and the last two from powerlifting).

Nigeria now occupies the 10th position on the log.
