Ahmed Musa scores two to earn CSKA Moscow a comeback win against Krasnodar

Super Eagles attacker, Ahmed Musa scored two goals to help CSKA Moscow come from a goal down to beat Krasnodar in the Russia Premier League game played at the VEB Arena on Sunday to keep them in the title race.

If not for Ahmed Musa’s goals, CSKA Moscow who were the title winners in the 2015-16 season before losing it to Spartak Moscow in the 2016-17 season would have been 9 points behind table-toppers Lokomotiv Moscow with just 3 games to go.

Musa who continues to play as a striker alongside Kuchaev in CSKA Moscow’s 3-5-2 formation was involved in everything the hosts did while attacking their visitors.

Musa set his strike partner up for a sure goal in the 41 minutes of the clash but Kuchaev attempt was denied by Sinitsyn for a corner.

At the interval, the scoreline was goalless as both side couldn’t find the back of the net. The second half continued just like the first half till 53rd minutes when Gazinskiy played a 1-2 with Wamberto to find himself one-on-one with Igor Akinfeev and he bent it beyond the Russian.

Ahmed Musa responded for the hosts in the 72nd minutes just 19 minutes after they went behind. Ahmed Musa received a pass in the box, his first attempt was blocked but he fired his second shot into the top bar that the Sinitsyn couldn’t stop from going in.

13 minutes after he scored the equalizer, Ahmed Musa was the man again. From a long ball sent into Krasnodar half, Ahmed Musa found himself with the ball with two defenders and an onrushing goalie but the former Kano Pillars placed the ball with his left foot for his brace.

CSKA Moscow with 51 points are second on the log just 6 points behind Lokomotiv Moscow who sit top of the Russian Premier League with 57 points.
