Match Preview: Remo Stars v Plateau United

Newly promoted NPFL side Remo stars kick start their NPFL 2016/2017 against Plateau United as they host them at the Sagamu Stadium, as approved by the League Management Company, LMC.

Remo stars were 4 nil winners over Shooting stars of Ibadan in their 2nd pre season game after losing the first to sunshine stars of Akure 2 nil.

They were also 3rd place in the NNL super 4. Players like Eyimofe Joseph(Warri Wolves), Gideon Bewarang (Plateau utd), Enudi Solomon (FC Ifeanyi Ubah) and many others have been added to their ranks.

Coach of newly promoted Remo Stars, Nduka Ugbade, says that he is not
under pressure to perform in his first stint in the NPFL. Ugbade led Remo Stars to their first ever promotion to the NPFL from the Nigeria National League last season.

Remo Stars finished top of NNL B2 to gain promotion to the elite division.

“There is no target or pressure from Remo Stars,” the former Golden Eaglets captain and Super Eagles star said.  “I have been working in football for a long time. I have been monitoring the NPFL.

“This is part of my job because what I’m trying to introduce in Africa is a
football that is based on information.

“It’s part of my job to be in constant connection with everything that is
happening at the top level.

“The only pressure is from the Nigerian citizens who have seen me work for so many years and whose expectations are very high.”

Ugbade went on to describe what he felt after guiding Remo Stars to the
NPFL. He added: “Bringing Remo Stars to the elite division was a very wonderful experience for me.

“It was filled with a lot of drama. But kudos to the players, the coaching
crew, and the management, everyone contributed to the success.”

Chizoba Ndukwe, Remo Stars goalkeeper, believes that his newly promoted side would give an arm and a leg to keep their place in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as they make their maiden appearance in the top division.

The Remo Stars goalkeeper promised to give his best in order to help his club make their mark in the NPFL.

Ndukwe hopes that the Sky Blue Stars as they are popularly called can
replicate their impressive performance in the second tier, the Nigeria National League (NNL), in which they cruised to win promotion in an easy fashion in their group.

“I am willing and ready to assist the team in maintaining their NPFL status by God’s grace.

“God assisted me and the team during the NNL season to gain promotion and I am very sure He will do the same when the NPFL season starts in a few days,” the Remo Stars goalkeeper said.

Ndukwe, who was the team’s number one goalkeeper during the club’s time in the NNL, saluted the team for doing the greater job of making sure the club secured the NPFL slot.

“It’s a delight to have the team gain promotion. I appreciate my teammates for doing the greater job during the NNL season and I am sure they will do the same in the NPFL,” he said.

For Plateau United who finished 8th last season after gaining promotion have called back Coach Kenedy Boboye to replicate last seasons good
achievement.

Veteran goalie Isah Danladi has departed for Kano pillars, and they have
also signed Dele Ajiboye and some other goalies to fill in.

Also Emmanuel James(Abia Warriors), Ogene Elijah (Sunshine Stars), Okoro Obasi(Sunshine stars), and Many more players.

Plateau won against Nasarawa utd 1 nil in a pre season game, and would surely hope to get a win on Sunday against a determined Remo Stars team.
