76ers fans call for Lagos-born Charles Bassey to be given his NBA chances after historic G-league performances

Philadelphia 76ers fans have called on their head coach Doc Rivers and the organisation to give Lagos-born Charles Bassey his opportunity in the NBA.

The 21-year-old center is currently making name for himself in the NBA G-league with repeated historic numbers.

Charles Bassey who was selected with the 52rd pick by Philadelphia 76ers is currently playing in the G-league with their affiliate team Delaware Blue Coats.

The Nigerian grabbed the headline after repeated dominant performances most notably in Delaware Blue Coats 111-122 loss to Motor City Cruise on the 29th of March where he dropped 33 points, 12 rebounds in 25 minutes.

Bassey then added another top display this morning to leading Delaware Blue Coats to a 144-110 win against Wisconsin Herd.

In 33 minutes, Charles Bassey had 37 points, 21 rebounds, 2 blocks and +43 efficiency or real plus minus.

Bassey is averaging 35.0 points and 16.5 boards over his last two games and sending come and get me plea to Sixers.

Hence, the reason their fans are calling for him to be included in the team as they prepare for the post season.

They are calling for him to be given his chance despite having veterans like Deandre Jordan and Mason Plumlee as back up centers to MVP candidate Joel Embiid.

Here are some of what they said:

“Sportcenter giving more love to Charles Bassey than Doc Rivers does.”

“Attention Sixers fan. we must get doc rivers attention, everyone make their profile pic charles bassey lets make over voices be heard.”

“Yet the Sixers will still play the worst player in NBA basketball as a backup to Joel Embiid in Deandre Jordan over Bassey.”
