From Cakegate to awards, Yaya Toure’s egotistical big baby moments

We can’t underscore Yaya Toure’s ability, achivements, and the fact that he is one of the best ever African footballers.

But, after his disgraceful rant for losing an award he had won four times on the bounce to Borussia Dortmund striker Aubamayang. You’ll wonder how selfish, forgetful, and a sore loser Yaya is.

This is not the first time Yaya Toure has shown how ‘Yaya he can be’ as my friend would say back in the days.

Here are four of Yaya Toure’s egotistical big baby moments.

1. In 2014 He almost left Manchester City for one of the “ludicrous excuses” ever.

Can you guess why ….I am sure you wouldn’t guess correctly the reason Yaya Toure, who is a “warrior-king” on the field, would behave like “an overtired six-year-old girl”.

Because of the size of his cake and handshake

He wanted to leave because of the size of his birthday cake and Manchester City’s failure to wish him happy birthday’

2. In 2014 shortly after losing the Ballon d’Or to one of the invincibles he complained on more than one occasions that season, that his ability was overlooked because he is an African.

He finished 14th on the final list, only Weah, Eto’o and Drogba had ranked better in the past as Africans.

3. Yaya Toure was also annoyed when not enough shirts bearing his name were in the Manchester City shop

4. “I am very, very disappointed,” he told Afrique Foot. “It’s sad to see Africa react this way, that they don’t think African achievements are important.

“I think this is what brings shame to Africa, because to act in that way is indecent. But what can we do about it?

“Us Africans, we don’t show that Africa is important in our eyes. We favour more what’s abroad than our own continent. That is pathetic.

“Even FIFA, with all its history of corruption, wouldn’t do this.”

“Yaya will take care of Yaya and let Africa take care of itself,” he said. “As I’ve been told many times, you can’t take care of Africa too much because Africa will be the first to let you down.

“When I return to Europe, a lot of questions will be asked. I think I’m going to have to answer them. As I’m someone who’s honest, I will always tell the truth.”
