WATCH VIDEO: Victor Osimhen takes CAF award back to his first playground in Lagos

Victor Osimhen celebrated his prestigious CAF best player award by visiting his old elementary school, Olusosun Primary School, in Oregun, Lagos.

This heartwarming event comes in the wake of Osimhen’s Instagram rant controversy directed at Super Eagles manager Finidi George. However, Osimhen is now shifting the focus to his achievements and positive connections with his past.

Osimhen earned the CAF Player of the Year title after an extraordinary season with Napoli, where he scored 26 goals in 32 appearances, leading the club to its first Serie A title in 33 years.

His remarkable performance on the field saw him surpass strong contenders like Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah to win the coveted award. This victory marks Osimhen as the first Nigerian in 22 years to claim the African Footballer of the Year title.

During his holiday, Osimhen took the opportunity to revisit his roots, sharing his success with the community that shaped him. He returned to his alma mater, Olusosun Primary School, with his CAF POTY award, much to the delight of his former schoolmates and local fans.

The visit was captured and shared on social media, where a video posted by X user @SoccerNationNG showed Osimhen proudly displaying his award on the same pitch where he once played as a child. The caption read, “Victor Osimhen took his CAF Best Player of the Year award back to the same pitch in Olusoun, Ojota- where it all started for him.”

Osimhen’s recent outburst on Instagram, in which he criticized Super Eagles manager Finidi George, had stirred some negative attention. However, this visit to his old school and the celebration of his CAF POTY award have helped to shift the narrative back to his inspiring journey and remarkable achievements.
