Sunshine Stars’ Boboye and Akwa United’s Suleiman win NPFL awards
Sunshine Stars head coach Kennedy Boboye and Akwa United forward Sani Suleiman have been named the winners of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Manager and Player of the Month LBAs for May/June 2024.
Boboye’s tactical prowess led Sunshine Stars to a remarkable 5-game unbeaten streak, which was crucial in ensuring the team’s survival from relegation.
Among his four wins during this period, two were achieved away from home against Doma and Gombe United. Boboye’s standout performance saw him outshine competitors such as Meremu Okara, Majin Mohammed, and title-winning coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.
Meanwhile, Sani Suleiman of Akwa United clinched the Player of the Month award, marking his second accolade after winning the March edition.
Suleiman’s prolific form saw him net five goals in his last six games, including crucial braces in the away victory over Lobi Stars and the home win against Katsina United. He finishes the NPFL season as the only player to have won two LBA Player of the Month awards.
